At 18, J.J. became a cadet in the Starfleet Academy and focused his studies on Operations and Intelligence. He'd also learned how to pilot fighters as part of his studies although he elected not to join any of the special squads.

While a cadet in his Junior year, J.J. was recruited by Starfleet Section 31, where he was indoctrinated into the world of covert operations. He'd take sudden leaves from the Adademy in order to fulfill his commitment to Section 31. This was when he discovered his father's true connection with Intelligence.

J.J. completed his Academy studies at the age of 24 - nearly 2 years longer than most cadets - mostly due to his sabaticals.

Unlike most, he graduated a Lieutenant JG because of his service to Section 31 and the influence of Commodore Links.

J.J. then entered Starfleet Intelligence and worked as an operative - often under cover. He spent the next 8 years growing his experience and rank. At the age of 32, his cover was compromised when secret documents disappeared revealing covert operatives. A Lt. Commander now, he was offered the opportunity to assume duties within the Starfleet as an Intelligence Officer. He served on the USS Potamkin for 2 years before being steered in the direction of a Chief Intelligence Officer position. As luck would have it, a position had come open on the USS Dauntless. A brief tap of the console sent his letter of interest over to the Commanding Officer. Most of his file was sealed but enough was left available for the CO to establish a baseline for his progress and career advancement.

History:	Born of Human and El-Aurian parents, J.J. spent his early years between Earth and an El-Aurian settlement. At the age of 14 the family settled on Earth and his parents became part of the United Federation of Planets. His Mom was an aide to the Federation Ambassador from the El Aurian Confederation and his father served in top secret Government facilities. J.J. never realy knew what his father's jobs were until he himself graduated from Starfleet Intelligence. At 17, J.J. followed the wishes of his parents and applied for the Academy.
