Chief of Security The Chief of Security (COS) is in charge of the Security Department on board the USS Vanguard, and is directly responsible for all members of the crew assigned to that department. You are required to manage a current roster for each member of the Security staff, design a fluid patrol manifest and keep up to date a profile for all members of the crew and visiting persons. In event of a Red Alert situation the Chief should recon with all the Security personnel and assign them to their respective duty stations. The Chief of Security also advises the Commanding Officer on possible threats to the ship and it's crew. As the Chief of Security you may be called upon to place your life or the lives of those placed under you in harms way. Should you be called upon to make this sacrifice, you will be expected to act accordingly and with proper decorum. The officers placed under your command will be required to do the same. Should you feel that someone in the security department is unable to fulfill this obligation, it is your responsibility to bring it to the attention of the First Officer immediately. Your direct supervisor will be the First Officer. You will be required to follow any and all orders issued by the Command Staff. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following, attending all senior staff briefings and meetings where you will provide vital input concerning security and tactical matters should the need arise. You will be required to render any and all assistance where your expertise and experience may be called upon by the Captain or the First Officer. You will also be in charge of supervising and conducting any internal investigations. Setting up security protocols for Away Team, Landing Parties, Diplomatic and VIP protection details. At your discretion you may man the Bridge Tactical station located to the right rear of the bridge. From this station you will be in charge of the ship's internal and external security. This will include keeping track of security personnel throughout the ship and monitoring the internal sensors. Other responsibilities will be to monitor the shields and hull integrity as well as all tactical sensors. All transporter activity and tractor beam functions, escort and transport details for the various visitors or cargo arriving or departing the ship will be your responsibility as well. During combat situations and at the Captain's or First Officer's direction you will arm, plot firing solutions, lock and fire any weaponry, i.e; phasers, photon torpedoes. When not manning the bridge tactical station, the welfare and security of the brig and any occupants will also be your responsibility. |
